STEAM Machine: June 3 - August 7

All aboard the STEAM Machine! Join us every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. from June 3 to August 7. Enjoy different activities every week while exploring creative ways to solve challenges with the whole family. Space on the STEAM Machine available on a first come, first served basis. You can RSVP for a selected date to help us determine the number of guests to expect on your selected day.

June 3 and 5: Col-AR Creatures

Bring animals to life with an augmented reality coloring sheet. Color your creature, scan it, and watch it move in 3D right before your eyes.

June 10 and 12: Mighty Mini Bridges

Engineer your own truss bridge using Strawbees. Build, test, and see how much weight your structure can hold while learning about physics and engineering.

June 17 and 19: High-Flyin’ Helicopters

Fold, drop, and watch it spin! Design your own paper helicopter and experiment with how different wing shapes affect flight.

June 24 and 26: Sea Creature Surgery

Step into the role of a marine veterinarian and perform “surgery” on a sea turtle or manatee in this interactive science challenge.

July 1 and 3: Cosmic Creations

Create a mini night sky! Use pipe cleaners and beads to form your favorite constellation and take home a piece of the stars.

July 8 and 10: Lionfish Stomach Safari

“Dissect” a lionfish plushy and sort the “eaten” animals as vertebrates or invertebrates while learning about this hungry invader’s impact on marine life.

July 15 and 17: 3D Puppet Lab

Use a 3D pen to design and create your own wearable finger puppet. Shape, doodle, and bring your tiny character to life.

July 22 and 24: Gut Check!

Guide a tiny robot through the twists and turns of the digestive system. Use coding skills to help an Ozobot travel from bite to belly, discovering how our bodies break down food along the way.

July 29 and 31: Chomping Dinos

Roar into action with your own chomping dino! Use simple mechanics to make your paper dinosaur snap its jaws.

August 5 and 7: Ocean Cleanup Quest

Become an ocean hero by removing trash from the water and learn why clean water is important for all living things.

Access to the STEAM Machine is included with general admission to the museum. Military discount available.
